A 29-year-old man was hit by a car while jogging in the street on 400 South at about 5:45 p.m. Sunday, police said.

The man was taken to University Hospital in critical but stable condition.

He was hit by a 22-year-old driving west near 1220 East, according to Salt Lake City Police Lt. Dave Hoffman.

No citations were issued at the scene, but the accident was being investigated Sunday night, Hoffman said.

It appears the man was jogging for exercise, but that he should not have been in the street, Hoffman said.
