University of Utah senior Leilani Mitchell has been named the Mountain West Conference women's basketball player of the week.

Mitchell, a Kennewick, Wash., product, helped the Utes net two wins last week, averaging a team-leading 19.5 points and 7.5 assists. She finished the two-game schedule with 15 total assists to only four turnovers (3.75 assist-to-turnover ratio), averaging 31 minutes per game. Mitchell was the team's top scorer, shooting .571 (16-for-28), and was among the team leaders with 5.0 rebounds per game.

Mitchell made a season-best 10 field goals (10-for-15, .667) and tied her season best with eight rebounds against Weber State. The 24-point game against WSU was her third such game of the year, and it also tied her season best. She nearly had a double-double against Saint Mary's, tallying 15 points and a game-high eight assists.

The guard currently leads the league in assists, averaging 7.25 per game, and ranks third in points with 16.2 per game. She holds the record in the conference for the most assists accrued in a single game this season with 18 against Fresno State. This marks her third weekly honor of the season and first lone honor.
