I am angry! To arrange for Russian soldiers to train with U.S. troops is as well-advised as sending Red Riding Hood's grandmother to flirt with the wolf. To expect them to "come together, share ideas and work for the common good" is idealistic folly. This type of thinking is sadly typical of the Bush administration.

Ronald Reagan's accomplishment in bringing down the Berlin Wall was a great political coup. This did not, however, end the Cold War. It is alive and well.

Next year we will have the opportunity to once again replace those who are primarily interested in their political office and their own short-term interests. I look for the day when Americans — regardless of party affiliation — can vote for the better of two goods rather than the lesser of two evils.
