Utah State

FOOTBALL: Football coach Brent Guy announced that four players have signed letters of intent to play at Utah State next season. Among the signees are Casey Davis, Sevaro Johnson, Jeremy Mitchell and Christopher Williams. Johnson and Mitchell were teammates at Laney College in Oakland, Calif., while Davis, a 6-3, 285 pound defensive lineman from Riverton, joins the Aggies from Snow College.


BASEBALL: Utah baseball players Corey Shimada and Nate Burnham have been selected preseason all-conference picks by the Web site rivals.com. Shimada was a preseason all-league pick at second base while Burnham was selected as an outfielder. The Utes begin the season on Feb. 22 when they play a four-game series at San Jose State.

SOCCER: Two Utah soccer players have earned All-West Region honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Ute sophomore midfielder Kelly Isleib (Park City) was named to the second team and junior forward Adele Letro (Davis, Calif.) was named to the third team.

Utah Valley

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Utah Valley State hosts Western State this afternoon at 2 p.m. in The McKay Center. The Wolverines (9-3) will be looking to match last season's 10-3 pre-Christmas mark against the 8-2 Mountaineers, who have four players averaging double figures.
