DELTA — Millard County sheriff's deputies found the body of an 88-year-old missing man Wednesday.

Ernest George Clark died following a car crash on state Route 6 in Millard County, said Department of Public Safety spokesman Cameron Roden. He apparently drove off the road and crashed into an embankment.

Clark had been dead for some time when authorities found his body, Roden said. Officials believe speed and dementia may have been factors in the crash.

Authorities learned Clark was missing Monday when someone making a delivery found the front door open and nobody home. Deputies searched the home and found nothing disturbed, but no sign of Clark. His car was also missing.

Neighbors told deputies they saw Clark's car parked outside his home Sunday, but hadn't seen him. Clark's daughter told police he suffered from dementia and may have been headed toward Davis County.

Officials do not believe Clark's death was a result of foul play.
