PROVO — Buttons that serve as tickets to Provo's family-friendly New Year's Eve celebration, First Night, are now on sale.

First Night Provo 2008 will be Dec. 31 from 6 p.m. to midnight at the Provo Towne Centre, 1200 Towne Centre Blvd., in Provo, indoors for the second year.

Buttons are available at Provo City's Parks and Recreation department offices at 351 W. Center and from the mall customer service desk.

The buttons cost $4 for adults 16 and over and $3 for children 15 and under. (Children 5 and under are admitted free).

Buttons cost $1 more on the day of the event.

The theme this year is "Come Out and Play," and activities include children's crafts, balloon artists, tricycle races, a rock-climbing wall, "Guitar Hero" competitions, "Dance Dance Revolution" and a karaoke singing competition. There will also be country, top 40 and big band dances. The 1980s multihit singing group, the Jets, will perform at 10:15 p.m. In addition, other local talent acts will entertain throughout the evening.
