Poinsettia Bowl (7 p.m., ESPN): The bowl season kicks off with a local team as the 8-4 Utah Utes take on the 8-4 Midshipmen of Navy. The good news is that it's on ESPN, so Ute fans all across the country will be able to see the game. The bad news is that it's on ESPN, and that network's announcers have shown an alarming tendency to talk about all sorts of baloney — a lot of it about themselves — as opposed to what's happening on the field.

College basketball (8 p.m., Ch. 14): UVSC at USU
