Congratulations, Utahns. Pork has left Washington, D.C., and has arrived in Utah — $5 million to study the environmental impact of a bridge over Utah Lake and hundreds of millions to build the bridge. There are pros and cons with every place people choose to live. We make choices. Those who live on the west side of the lake choose to do so, for whatever reason. Why should we, the taxpayers, pay to take away some of the disadvantages that they willingly choose to take? The money would be better spent repairing existing bridges, on education or — heaven forbid — our legislators could reduce other questionable spending and cut taxes.
