BASKETBALL: BYU junior guard Lee Cummard has been named the Mountain West Conference men's basketball player of the week for the first time in his career. Cummard led the Cougars to non-conference wins over Lamar and Pepperdine last week.
He shot 75 percent from both the floor and the 3-point arc (6-for-8) while averaging team-highs of 24 points, 6.5 assists, 2.5 blocks and 1.5 steals per game.
FOOTBALL: Utah State offensive guard Shawn Murphy and kick returner Kevin Robinson have been selected to the West roster for this year's East-West Shrine Game.
Murphy and Robinson become the first Utah State players selected to the game since Emmett White in 2002. The 83rd East-West Shrine Game will be at 5 p.m. (MT) on Saturday, Jan. 19, at the University of Houston. It will be televised on ESPN2.
SWIMMING: On the final day of competition at the UNLV Invitational the Utah swimming and diving team capped off the three-day invite with Karly Roberts winning the 1650-meter freestyle swim with a time of 17:19.28.
Utah will be off until January 12 when they will host TCU at the Ute Natatorium.
