RUPERT, Idaho (AP) — A disbarred Rupert lawyer has been sentenced to 18 months in prison, but the judge suspended the sentence and gave him two years probation.

Judge William Woodland sentenced Ray Pena on Friday and suspended half of a $2,000 fine. If Pena violates probation, he could have to serve the full sentence and pay the entire fine.

Pena pleaded guilty in November to one count of battery and one count of malicious injury to property. He originally was charged with procurement of prostitution for exchanging sexual favors for money owed him by several female clients.

Pena voluntarily disbarred himself in December 2006, retroactive to February 2006. He could be eligible to apply for reinstatement to the state bar in February 2011.
