A Sandy man wanted in connection with the slaying of a woman in a West Wendover hotel room has agreed to return to Nevada to face a murder charge.

Ernest Kent Simkins, 64, appeared before a judge in Salt Lake City's 3rd District Court on Tuesday to face a fugitive warrant. According to court records, Simkins waived extradition to Nevada. He also requested to have a pair of reading glasses brought to jail.

Simkins has been charged with murder in the death of Bonnie Jolin, 56, whose body was found in a hot tub inside a room at the Peppermill Hotel. Police said an autopsy confirmed that Jolin had injuries that were inconsistent with falling and drowning in a hot tub. Simkins was staying in the room that Jolin died in.

Simkins remains in the Salt Lake County Jail and will return to court on Dec. 21, if Elko County authorities do not pick him up by then.
