I've recently learned that the Tracy Aviary will not be renewing any licenses for bird rescues in Salt Lake City. I own a fierce hunter of a cat, and I've found many small animals and birds in my house. On occasion, I am able to rescue his prey and take it to a local rescue.

Just last night, my cat brought in an unusual, rarely studied shorebird. Unfortunately, because of the aviary's decision, I was unable to bring it to a rescue. Several local bird rescues would have taken this bird in a snap, nursed it back to health if possible and released it in an appropriate place, for no other reason than because they love birds. But they are no longer being allowed to do so.

The Tracy Aviary needs to reconsider this decision.
