SPRINGVILLE — A man was arrested Thursday for investigation of forcing his 16-year-old co-worker to have sex with him.

The 23-year-old man and the girl left from their work Wednesday night and went to the man's Springville apartment to "hang out," according to an affidavit of probable cause filed in 4th District Court.

Once they got to the man's place and the man's roommate left, the man tried to kiss the girl, who then asked to be taken home, according to the affidavit.

The man told the girl he would only take her home if she performed a sex act on him, which she refused.

Twisting her arm, the man tried to force her to perform the sex act, which she refused to do, according to the affidavit. The man then slapped her and pushed her to the couch.

As the girl was on the couch, the man forced himself on her, according to the affidavit.

The girl said no several times and was eventually able to push him off and leave, according to the affidavit.

The girl called police around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday and then went to the hospital, where she talked with a Springville officer. The officer noted that he could see bite marks on the girl's neck and shoulder, according to the affidavit.

The officer interviewed the girl and gathered evidence until nearly midnight, then found the man and arrested him the next morning just after 10 a.m., said Springville Lt. Dave Caron.

"A person ought to be able to be friends with and visit other people," he said. "But unfortunately in the world today, that's not always the case."

The man was booked into jail for investigation of rape, forcible sodomy and aggravated sexual assault and is being held on $50,000 cash-only bail.

He will be in court for the first time on Dec. 14 at 8:30 a.m.
