Title: "Write it When I'm Gone: Remarkable Off-the-Record Conversations with Gerald R. Ford"

Author: Thomas M. DeFrank

Publisher: Putnam

Pages: 258

Price: $25.95

In a nutshell: This interesting, colorful book reveals the candor of Gerald Ford, the 38th president, who did off-the-record interviews with the author for 16 years. The agreement was that DeFrank could publish the interviews following Ford's death. The author sees Ford in the traditional "nice guy" image, but it is still a little unsettling to realize that even someone who seemed as genuine as Ford harbored hateful thoughts about various people, most notably Ronald Reagan.
