ST. GEORGE — Police have arrested a man suspected of robbing a bank inside a Wal-Mart store.

An officer on patrol spotted a black pickup leaving a grocery store parking lot on Thursday and tried to pull the driver over. Police said the man then led them on a chase on Interstate 15.

"Apparently, he failed to stop and avoided spike strips at least three times," St. George Police Sgt. Craig Harding said Friday.

The chase was called off, but officers said the man eventually was arrested outside Las Vegas after a description of the car was broadcast over police radio. Police said Charles G. Anderson, 59, was arrested on suspicion of robbery, failure to stop and a series of warrants.

Harding said Anderson is a suspect in the Nov. 20 robbery of a bank inside a Wal-Mart store.
