TAYLORSVILLE — A late night shooting in Taylorsville that put one man in the hospital was believed to be drug-related, according to police.

The 20-year-old victim answered a knock at his door just before midnight Wednesday near 4750 S. and 2200 West and was confronted by two men. One man hit the victim on the head with a handgun and then shot him in the chest.

The bullet entered his chest and exited his right shoulder, according to police. The man was taken to a local hospital in critical condition but was later upgraded, said Taylorsville police Sgt. Rosie Rivera.

Detectives determined the shooting was drug related. A search warrant was served on the victim's apartment where drugs were found, Rivera said.

The search continued Thursday for the two suspects.
