Salt Lake City police are looking for three men that investigators say fired multiple rounds into a house, barely missing the people inside.

Just after 11 a.m. Tuesday, three men wearing hoodies went to a house near 300 East and 2000 South. The men asked to see a person who didn't live there but whose car was parked in front, said Salt Lake City police detective Jeff Bedard.

A man who lived at the house who answered the door told the trio the man they were looking for wasn't there and refused to let them in, Bedard said. That's when one of the men pulled out a gun and tried to force their way inside. The man who answered the door was able to shut it and then immediately dropped to the floor just before shot were fired through the door, Bedard said.

As the three men ran away, they turned to fire more rounds at the house, possibly up to a dozen, according to police.
