Two men suspected of committing a series of car burglaries were arrested early Tuesday after being caught in the act.
Guards for Metro Security caught the two men breaking into cars in the Stonehedge Apartment Community, 4150 S. 500 East, at about 1 a.m., said Salt Lake County Sheriff's Lt. Paul Jaroscak. The security guards detained the two men until deputies could arrive and arrest them.
As of 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, investigators had found nine cars in Stonehedge and the nearby Fox Point In Old Farms apartments that were damaged or burglarized. Mostly stereos were ripped from the vehicles, Jaroscak said.
Two men, both aged 19, were booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of criminal mischief and possession of stolen property.
