Salt Lake City police detectives are investigating the death of a 16-year-old boy.

The teenager died early Sunday morning after police found him at the base of a stairwell in an apartment complex near 1100 Roberta (240 East), said Salt Lake City Police Lt. Rich Brede.

Police found the boy about 6:30 a.m., Brede said. Paramedics took his almost-lifeless body to a local hospital, where the boy was pronounced dead.

The teen was not a resident of the apartment complex, Brede said. Sunday, police were investigating the possibility that he was involved in a loud drinking party at the complex Saturday night.

Brede said there were no early indications of foul play.

The teen's name has not been released pending notification of his family.
