It was a solid defensive effort for the Westminster Griffins on Saturday night as they knocked off the College of Idaho 64-46. The Griffins (7-1) held the Yotes (2-6) to just 31 percent shooting, including just 25 percent in the first half. Westminster also struggled in the opening 20 minutes, scoring just 24 points after starting the game 2-of-9 from the field.

Westminster took control of the game early in the second half. The Yotes had tied the score at 24 just 1:22 into the second session, only to see the Griffins use a 17-4 run over the next 9:30 to put the game away. James Thompson and Jordan Jacobs each knocked down some big 3-pointers to keep TCI at bay. Thompson matched his career high with nine points and scored a season high 16.

Next up for the Griffins is a November 30 game against Dixie State College in St. George, Utah. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Burns Arena.
