Hundreds of books, videocassettes and compact discs will be on sale at the Salt Lake City Main Library, Friday, Dec. 7, 6-9 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 8, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., in the Main Library Urban Room for the Friends of The City Library used book sale. The library is at 210 E. 400 South.
Friday's sale hours correspond with the Salt Lake Gallery Association's Gallery Stroll, 6-9 p.m. The Main Library's Urban Room will be open for a gallery opening at Art at the Main, shopping at The Library Store, English Garden, Joy's Deli, Salt Lake Roasting Co. and Night Flight Comics, and a screening of the animated film "How the Grinch Stole Christmas."
The minisale includes travel guides, fiction, mysteries, children's books, CDs, videos and books-on-tape.
Volunteers from the Friends donate hundreds of hours each year sorting, organizing, shelving and hosting the used book sales. They also sort and process the used books available year-round at The Library Store. Funds generated by the sales and the store are donated back to The City Library System; the library will receive more than $80,000 in Friends donations this year.
