The public is invited to visit the Salt Lake City Main Library Dec. 8 for the annual Literary Luminaries event and holiday shopping.

The library will feature several shops filled with merchandise for all ages and interests.

Stores scheduled to participate include Art at the Main, featuring original works by local artists; the English Garden, with flower arrangements, blooming plants and gifts; the Library Store, with literary-inspired gifts for readers and writers; and Night Flight Comics, with a wide range of comic books and graphic novels.

The Friends of the Library will join the shops and host a mini used-book sale.

A live mime and musical production of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" will be presented at 11 a.m. in the Nancy Tessman Auditorium. The animated film version of the Dr. Seuss classic will be shown at 12:30, 2:30 and 4:30 p.m.
