A 75-year-old crossing guard suffered minor injuries in a hit-and-run accident in Magna Tuesday morning.
Just after 8:30 a.m., Robert Slater was in a crosswalk on 8000 West near 2570 South when a truck hit him and knocked him down, said Salt Lake County Sheriff's Lt. Paul Jaroscak.
The driver continued on after hitting the crossing guard. Witnesses were able to write down a license plate number.
Slater suffered a knee injury. He was treated at a local hospital and released, Jaroscak said.
Investigators used the license plate information gathered by witnesses and found the driver at his Magna home. The 43-year-old man was arrested and booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of leaving the scene of an accident.
