Six people were sent to area hospitals Friday night, one in critical condition, following a three-vehicle accident on Salt Lake County's east side.
About 11:20 p.m. a pickup truck with four teenage girls in the front seat ran a red light at 3300 South and Highland Drive, said Salt Lake County Sheriff's Lt. Paul Jaroscak.
The pickup slammed into two other vehicles, causing the pickup itself to flip over. The girls were taken to local hospitals in fair to good condition.
A 19-year-old passenger in one of the other vehicles was flown by medical helicopter to a local hospital in critical condition, Jaroscak said. The driver of that car was also taken to the hospital in fair condition.
Two women in the third vehicle were treated at the scene and released.
There was no evidence of alcohol being a factor in the crash, Jaroscak said. Any charges against the female driver would be determined later by prosecutors.
