BOISE — The Utah Grizzlies overcame a 2-0 deficit to the defending champion Steelheads Friday night, winning 6-5 in OT. It was their third win in extra time over the Steelheads this season and third win coming from two down to Idaho.

The Idaho Steelheads started off the high-scoring first period with a shorthanded goal, which was followed by a power play goal.

But Utah came right back with two goals just 41 seconds apart. First, Christian Gaudet tipped home a Scott Ford shot to cut the deficit to one, then Rob Sirianni tied the game at two.

The Steelheads regained the lead when former grizzly Darrell Hay scored with one second left on a 5-on-3. The Grizzlies came right back when Gaudet scored his second of the game from Jason Pitton to finish the opening period tied 3-3. The Grizzlies scored the first goal of the second period, taking their first lead of the game when Keith Johnson scored on the power play, knocking home a rebound off a shot by Olivier Labelle. The Grizz held the lead till 23 seconds were left in the period when Lance Galbraith tapped home a bank off the boards to tie the game at four.

The Grizz jumped out to a 5-4 for lead in the third when Trevor Smith stole the puck shorthanded and beat Steve Silverthorn. Idaho answered back with another 5-on-3 goal by Hay. The game moved onto overtime where Haley scored from the top of the left wing circle to send Utah home with the victory.
