OGDEN — A chase here ended with a pair of crashes with police cars and a suspect being Tasered.

The Utah Highway Patrol said a trooper pulled over a Hyundai Ascent near 12th Street and Wall Avenue early Tuesday morning for a signal violation. A young woman exited the vehicle, crying.

"The trooper asked why she was getting out of the car, and he drove off," UHP Sgt. Jeff Nigbur said.

The UHP said troopers chased the car through Harrisville, North Ogden and back to Ogden, where it collided with an Ogden Police car at 800 North and Monroe Avenue. The Hyundai continued to drive until a trooper hit the car to stop it.

The driver then bailed out on foot, troopers said, running around a house.

"Our trooper deployed his Taser and placed him in custody," Nigbur said.

The 25-year-old man was arrested and booked into the Weber County Jail on investigation of fleeing, leaving the scene of a crash, resisting arrest, obstruction of justice and reckless driving. Troopers said the man also had existing warrants for burglary and a parole violation.
