PROVO Hale Center Theater owners will break ground on a long-awaited, larger building on Friday, Nov. 16.
Owner Anne Swenson said the groundbreaking will be for a new building attached to the south tower of the Midtown Village project rather than a facility inside the tower itself.
"We'll have our own building on the back end of the south tower," Swenson said. "We should be able to stage ' A Christmas Carol' for 2008 in there."
Swenson said the whole community is invited to the groundbreaking and gala reception, where actors will perform musical selections of some of the theater's most popular productions. "That's probably 23,000 people," Swenson said.
The formal event will start with a reception at 6 p.m. with dancing from 8:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the village complex on State Street in Orem.
Participants can have refreshments provided by Kneaders, Pizzeria 712 and JK's Indulgence Catering as well as explore the south tower and the views from the sixth-floor balconies.
Swenson said fund-raising for the $5 million new theater is ongoing.
