With all the talk about school vouchers and other beaten-to-death issues in our state and country, I have yet to hear anybody — besides Glen Beck — talk about the extreme corruption and violence in Laredo, Texas. It's the worst tragedy in our country right now. More murders and kidnappings than New Orleans.

I love sports and heartwarming stories, too, but what's the point of having the good times if we ignore the real horror stories.

Don't let corrupt politicians and the "powers that be" ignore these problems. They affect us all.
