I can certainly understand the concerns of the Writers Guild of America going on strike to assure a more equitable division of profits. Writers play a vital role, along with actors, in the making of television shows and movies.

While I support collective bargaining and good-faith negotiations, I don't think shows like "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno" need to go into reruns. I'd prefer they use audience members to "write" plots or monologues and let Leno and others study and present it — bloopers and all. That would be a better form of "reality TV." And it would give the strikers and studios an incentive to settle and do quality work.
