An article in the New York City-based Commonweal magazine by Mathew N. Schmalz, professor of regligious studies at Holy Cross, attempts to present the LDS Church and its teachings in a way that non-Latter-day Saints will understand. The author's premise is that Mormons "share more than we might think at first" with members of other faith groups. "Talking about Mormonism in 'good faith' does not mean accepting all or any of Mormonisms teachings," Schmalz writes. "Instead, it means accepting that Mormonism is composed of real people who are best seen up close, not from high atop the Rameumptom."
