PROVO — Sirens will blare in Provo today at noon as the city conducts its annual test of the emergency alert system.

The sirens are located throughout the Riverbottoms area and at Fire Station One, 80 S. 300 West.

The city tests the system each year on Election Day to ensure it works properly. The sirens also serve as a reminder to vote. Speakers will carry a message about what residents would be asked to do in the event of an emergency.

The Provo Fire Department, with the help of neighborhoods and local Boy Scouts troops, has distributed fliers to residents in the areas near the sirens.
