JORDAN BALLAM, Logan, football: This junior safety has lived the dream twice.
After recovering a blocked punt in the end zone for the game-winning score against Park City in the first round two weeks ago, Ballam scooped up a botched Delta punt in the waning minutes of last Friday's 3A quarterfinal and returned it 14 yards for the winning score as well.
"I'm just a lucky kid, I guess," said Ballam after the Delta victory. "I was just at the right place at the right time."Ballam is also Logan's leading tackler with 96 total tackles this year.
BRITTNY LOLOHEA, Highland High, volleyball: This senior led her team by working hard and having a positive attitude.
"Brittny has developed into one of the state's most dominant outside hitters, and she keeps getting better," said Highland head coach Clint Barnes. "Brit has a strong mind and doesn't let mistakes bother her. She works very hard to better every ball so her team will succeed."
Lolohea averaged 14 kills, four blocks and four aces per match, with her season's best performance coming against Region 6 rival Cottonwood. In that match she earned 18 kills and nine blocks. She is also an accomplished track athlete competing in hurdles, long hump and javelin.
