A man's body was found next to the side of the road in Salt Lake City Friday.

About 12:15 a.m. a passer-by spotted the body near 1575 W. 2300 North. The man's identity had not been released as of Friday afternoon.

There no were signs of trauma, said Salt Lake City police detective Jeff Bedard. Investigators were looking at whether drugs may have been involved.

Detectives believe the man may have died somewhere else and was transported to the 2300 North address. Even if the death is determined to be non-criminal, Bedard said transporting a body and abandoning it could bring a charge of desecration of a body.

In 2005, two similar cases received heavy media attention. In both cases, teens overdosed on drugs and their "friends" panicked and dumped their bodies in remote areas.
