South Summit (9-1, 4-1) vs. Millard (10-0, 5-0)

2A State Tournament semifinal game

Parry's Power Guide: Millard by 5

All-time series: South Summit leads 4-3.

Last meeting: 2006 quarterfinals, Millard won 13-7.

Before Millard gets a crack at North Summit in the championship game, first, North Summit has to take care of business in the semifinals, but so do the Eagles against the stingiest defense in 2A — North Summit's biggest rival.

North Summit won that rivalry game back in September, 21-7 — South Summit's only loss. In the four games since that loss the Wildcats have recorded three shutouts and then it crushed Richfield 34-9 in the quarterfinals. They lead 2A by only allowing 7.5 points per game.

The key on both sides of the ball for South Summit is Braydon Stembridge. A broken hand limited his availability against North Summit, but he's healthy now and the Division I prospect is a force at running back and linebacker.

Quarterback Conor Peterson is an underrated passer for the Wildcats.

Despite all of South Summit's success and accolades there's a reason it's an underdog against undefeated Millard. The Eagles opened the season with three straight victories over 3A teams, including a 29-7 win over Cedar. They didn't slow down once region play began, rolling through untested.

Zack Wilcox and Grant Barber lead the team offensively, while Dustin Kunz was one of the leading tacklers in the state with 115.
