Alpine School District Board of Education member Andrea Forsyth has resigned due to health reasons.
Forsyth, a three-term board member, is fighting cancer. The school board accepted her resignation letter on Friday.
Forsyth's resignation creates an opening on the seven-member school board. The school board will appoint a new board member, who will serve through next year, when Forsyth's term expires, and must run for the position in November 2008.
Forsyth represented the Orem High School area.
Applications are due Nov. 16. More information about the process of getting appointed is available on the school district's Web site: www.alpine.k12.ut.us.
