Detectives are trying to piece together a serious stabbing that occurred Friday night, but they say the victim is not cooperating with the investigation.

County sheriff's deputies were dispatched to Jordan Valley Hospital just before 10:30 p.m. when a 29-year-old man walked into the emergency room bleeding from serious stab wounds.

Salt Lake County Sheriff Lt. Paul Jaroscak said deputies managed to trace the source of the stabbing to a home at 6155 W. Graceland Way (6900 South), where neighbors said they heard two men arguing in an upstairs apartment.

Deputies found a lot of blood in the apartment. Across the street a vehicle was found with a bullet hole in it. Jaroscak said they believe whoever the man was arguing with may have fired a shot at him as he fled.

On questioning, the man refused to cooperate with detectives.

Jaroscak said deputies searched the man's car and found a gun and $10,000 in cash. Detectives believe the argument may have been connected to the cash.

The man remains in the hospital in serious condition.
