OREM Back-to-back wins for the UVSC women's soccer team last weekend clinched a first-round bye in the United Soccer Conference tournament that the Wolverines are hosting in mid-November.
Adrienne Schneider's three goals helped lead UVSC to its first home wins in the season.
Conditions changed dramatically between the two games as the Wolverines beat the New Jersey Institute of Technology 5-0 in mild weather on Friday before snowy conditions hit the Wasatch Front on Saturday afternoon.
UVSC finished off the Highlanders with a four-goal second half barrage. Shantae Adams' two late scores ended the game for the Wolverines on a high note.
Cold weather came to Orem just in time for the start of Saturday's match against Delaware State. UVSC scored three goals in the first half as the wind chill dipped below the freezing mark to get the 5-1 win.
It also didn't hurt that the Wolverines attempted a school-record 49 shots vs. the Hornets total of three in the match.Schneider scored two goals and got an assist in the victory.
WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL: The Wolverines have won four in a row after taking both of their games last week.
UVSC beat Boise State 3-1 (30-23, 27-30, 30-19, 30-20) last Thursday before making a quick trip to Texas-Pan American on Saturday and coming out with a 3-0 (30-14, 30-23, 30-11) win.
Allyce Wilson's defense was the key against Boise State as she set a four-game school record with 36 digs and averaged 8.9 digs per game in both of last week's victories.Another school-record fell against Boise State as Kristen Anderson had 12 block-assists.
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Head coach Cathy Nixon was inducted into the BYU Hall of Fame on Friday. Nixon played for the Cougars between 1985-88 and ranks fifth best scorer overall on their all-time scoring list.
MEN'S GOLF: UVSC finished 10th in the Bill Cullum Invitational in Simi Valley, Calif.Nick Neal was the top Wolverine with a ninth-place result. Andrew Smith shot a 72 on the second day of the tournament for the lowest UVSC score of the day.
WOMEN'S GOLF: Echo Thatcher led the Wolverines at the Aztec Fall Classic in San Diego with a 76th-place finish. Kasey Larson wasn't too far behind as she came in 80th.
