Parry's Power Guide: East by 19

All-time series: Mountain View leads 1-0

Last meeting: 2004 first round, Mountain View won 30-27

It has been an amazing turnaround for Mountain View. After going 1-10 in 2006, the Bruins have come back this year to post a 6-3 record and claim the No. 3 seed from Region 7. It isn't any secret how the team has made such an improvement.

Mark Garrett, TJ Mounga and Anthony Heimuli have led the revival. Garrett is a dual threat quarterback while Mounga and Heimuli are a dangerous pair of running backs that can both chew up the clock and move the ball effectively. Mounga has been the workhorse getting more carries, but Heimuli has some explosiveness and has been able to find the end zone a couple more times. Mountain View has the weapons available to possibly pull off the upset.

East was one onside kick away from winning the Region 6 title outright. Instead, a few flips of a coin have the Leopards as the No. 2 seed. Traditionally a run-oriented offense, the Leopards have thrown the ball more this season to accommodate the talents of quarterback Eric Bohling. Even with the ball in the air more often, don't be fooled, this team will pound the ball on the ground with Parker Cracroft all night if an opponent doesn't focus on shutting down the run first.
