Dwayne E. Wallberg, 40, of Elmo, was killed early Saturday when he missed a turn in a road in Emery County, the Utah Highway Patrol said.

Wallberg was driving east on State Route 155 when he drifted off the roadway near Cleveland and slammed into a gulch, trooper Cameron Roden said.

Wallberg was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from his pickup, Roden said. He died at the scene.

The accident wasn't reported until after 7 a.m. since neither the vehicle nor Wallberg could be seen from the roadway. However, authorities believe the accident occurred after midnight.

Authorities are awaiting toxicology results to determine if alcohol was a factor in the crash. Roden said weather likely did not play a factor in the crash, since it was clear and dry early Saturday morning.
