Offense

Looked ragged with misfired passes and drops. Freshman Harvey Unga ended up carrying the offense on his back with 145 yards as the BYU defense helped with essentially 14 points.

GRADE B-

Defense

Consistent, effective and full of big plays with interceptions by Corby Hodgkiss, Bryan Kehl and Quinn Gooch. Kayle Buchanan and Shawn Doman should have had two more picks. Gave up only one big play — a 10-yard pass that got turned into 60.

GRADE A-

Special teams

The Cougars controlled field position, blocked a punt, and Bryce Mahuika ripped off his longest kick return of the season, a 60-yarder to set up BYU's first third-quarter touchdown.

GRADE A-

Overall

A decent effort against an undermanned opponent that showed the Cougars have plenty of cleanup work still remaining. Bronco Mendenhall and his team climb back into MWC action at San Diego State on Saturday.
