West Wendover, Nev., police are awaiting autopsy results before determining if anyone should be arrested in connection with an Orem man's suspicious death at a casino.
"We have talked to several witnesses, but basically at this point we're not prepared to name anybody as a suspect until we get the autopsy results back," West Wendover Police Chief Ronald Supp said today. "We can compare that with our witness statements and make a determination whether there was intent or if something accidentally happened."
Supp said a fight broke out inside a hotel room at the Stateline-Wendover Nugget Casino early Sunday morning.
"There was some intoxication involved, and there was a big fight," he said.
The fight spilled out into the hallway, where police said 22-year-old Carlos Garcia died. His body was found in the hallway, and by the time officers arrived, two people already had left the scene.
Garcia's body has been sent to the Washoe County crime lab in Reno, Nev., for an autopsy. Supp said there was no obvious cause of death.
"There were typical injuries like you would see in a normal fist-fight," he said.Detectives are unsure what the fight was about, but police said they would not likely make any arrests until preliminary autopsy results came back and the case had been screened with the local district attorney.
