Southern Utah will play its sixth straight game against a ranked opponent today.

The Thunderbirds are in Youngstown, Ohio, to take on No. 13-ranked Youngstown State. The game kicks off at 2 p.m. MDT at Stambaugh Stadium.

SUU (0-5) is coming off arguably its best all-around performance of the season in a 7-3 loss to then-No. 13 Montana State. The Thunderbirds outgained Montana State by 100 yards and held the Bobcats to 56 yards of offense in the second half, but missed opportunities to win the game.

SUU has also faced No. 1 Montana, No. 2 North Dakota (Division II), No. 6 Southern Illinois and No. 7 McNeese State.

Youngstown State (4-2) is coming off a 24-17 setback at Southern Illinois. The Penguins also lost to Ohio State, 38-6, in Columbus in the season-opener.

This week, Southern Utah's DeWayne Lewis, a 5-foot-11, 185-pound cornerback from Denver, was named Great West Football conference player of the week. Lewis tallied seven tackles, two sacks and three tackles-for-loss against Montana State.
