The Salt Lake City Police SWAT team was called out early Friday morning to handle a stand-off at an apartment complex near Redwood Road.

Police said it began with a burglary near 1058 N. Garnett Drive, where several firearms were taken from a home. Officers found a suspect in the burglary in front of an apartment near 1600 West Snow Queen Place and arrested him, but a pair of associates barricaded themselves in his apartment.

SWAT teams were called out to clear the apartment, recovering a pair of rifle cases. Police said the suspect, identified as Omar Rodriguez, 18, told detectives he gave several guns to a teenager in West Valley City and some people in Salt Lake City's Rose Park neighborhood.

Rodriguez was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on investigation of burglary and weapons violations, police said.
