Regarding your article "Most in Salt Lake want to loosen liquor laws" (Oct. 4): Give me a break! Who in the world is "most"? Does that include the thousands of people killed and disfigured for life because of a drunk or drinking driver? Do we actually think the people who drink at bars, clubs, homes or places of recreation away from their homes are going to walk home or have someone drive them?
I am 75 years old and have been involved in three car accidents in which drunk or drinking drivers slammed into my car. A dear friend of mine was slammed into by a drunk driver. He was not killed, but his face was permanently disfigured. The last 40 years of his life were horror. Most victims of drunk drivers suffer lifetime consequences. They get the life sentence, not the driver who survives.
