PROMONTORY POINT, Box Elder County — Two people were injured, but not seriously, when their airplane crashed in the mountains near here.

Box Elder County sheriff's deputies said they were notified of the crash around 4 p.m. Wednesday by officials at the Salt Lake Airport Authority.

"Apparently, another plane in the air saw the plane upside down out by the east side of the Promontory Mountain range," Chief Deputy Kevin Potter said Wednesday.

A medical helicopter and search and rescue teams raced to the scene and found two people inside the experimental plane.

"They were conscious, alert and seemed to be OK," Potter said.
