S.L. TEAM PLACES 4TH: The men's team from Salt Lake City, representing the USTA Intermountain section, finished fourth at the 2007 USTA League Championships held in Indian Wells, Calif. The Salt Lake team lost to a team from Raleigh, N.C., 3-0 in the third-place match. Earlier in the day, the Salt Lake team lost to a team from Ponce, Puerto Rico, 3-0 in the semifinals. The team was captained by Brett David Nielson and included Jeffrey Bickel, Randy Jensen, coach John Lin, Mark Packham and Johann Posch.


NATIONAL EVENT: The USA Wrestling Kids National Championships will be held in Utah for the first time. Following a nationwide bidding process, Utah will host and the national freestyle and Greco-Roman championships for wrestlers 14 years and younger. The contract is awarded for the next two years, 2008 and 2009. The event will be held at the McKay Events Center in Orem. To qualify for the event, Utah wrestlers will have to place in the USA Wrestling-Utah State Championships, then compete in the USA Wrestling Western Regional Championships.
