RIVERTON — Panasonic executives traveled from Japan to South Hills Middle School in Jordan District last month to examine its classroom audio enhancement technology, which includes Panasonic equipment.

Visiting were Yuji Hirota, vice president of Panasonic in Japan, and Masato Sato, director in charge of Panasonic's security system division in Japan.

The technology is an infrared wireless microphone teachers wear so their voice travels evenly throughout the classroom. The idea is to improve students' learning environment. About 1,400 classrooms in 72 district schools have the technology.
