Efficient and steady, Brian Johnson threw for 312 yards and a touchdown and rushed for another 37 yards. Darrell Mack rushed for a career-high 163 yards and three touchdowns and the team scored 44 points.
Giving up 35 points against just any team is not a great defensive effort, but against Louisville and quarterback Brian Brohm, it is worthy of notice. The front seven sacked Brohm three times and batted down four passes.GRADE B
Louie Sakoda pinned the Cardinals deep in their own territory on several punts while a fake field goal gave the Utes a first-and-goal and led to their fourth touchdown. The return games for both sides were a nonissue in deciding the outcome.GRADE A-
It was not perfect, but it was certainly what the Utes needed and a big win. Utah beat Louisville in all three facets of the game. A performance such as this can only give the Utes the confidence they need to get back in the Mountain West title hunt.
