Utah already has liberal alcohol laws. I moved here from the Washington, D.C., area. The philosophy in D.C. is wherever one or more people are gathered, there will be alcohol. There is a liquor store in every shopping mall in the East.

Nevertheless, I was astounded when I arrived in Utah to find the enormous quantities of beer sold in nearly every Utah supermarket. It was as if I had stumbled upon the unknown beer pyramids of the West. Although the beer can labels say alcohol content is 3 percent, I can testify, as an experienced consumer of alcohol, that it takes only one 12-ounce can of Utah beer to make one noticeably impaired.
