A Hispanic import store at 580 W. 500 North was robbed Tuesday night by two handgun-wielding men.
The robbery of Quetzal Imports happened at 8:08 p.m., said Salt Lake City Police Lt. Rich Brede. The two men entered the store, brandished their guns and approached the store's clerk, who handed over money from the till.
The men then jumped into a red Mitsubishi Eclipse and drove off. Witnesses noted the vehicle was decorated with chrome rims.
Both of the men were Hispanic and both wore dark clothing. One was in his mid-20s and wore a hooded sweatshirt. He had a thin mustache. The other appeared to be in his late teens, Brede said.
Video surveillance of the robbery was recorded and police are reviewing it as part of their investigation.
Police do not believe the incident is related to the robberies of several other Hispanic stores in recent days. Suspects in those incidents carried longer-barreled guns and drove a maroon vehicle, Brede said.
Police have asked those with information about any of the recent robberies to call them at 801-799-3000.
